  • A song about the 51st Highland Division leaving Sicily during World War II is not Irish.

Contrary to popular belief, not every folk song is Irish.

  • Dear, dear, very nice but definitely not Irish.

Try to find the original lyrics sometime- I've never seen them written down in proper Scots.

  • @adajanetta "Jock" means Scot, even. Sigh.

  • This isn't an Irish song! My dad was with the 51st in Sicily. Please change the title.

  • @vimmerman They are the identical lyrics to this song as sung by the Chad Mitchell Trio in their album, "Reflecting", which I have had for 45 years.

  • For my great uncle Jack Walker, Cape Breton Highlanders, killed on the Gothic Line, Sept 14, 1944

  • Well said, Ambidexter 143.

  • wrong lyrics for sure, very nice attempt.
