Grover Norquist and the Tax Pledge of Doom

How many time in your life have you been asked to take an oath?
You know what I mean. The kind of Oath that really means something, where you place a ring on the finger of the one you love on your wedding day or hold out a ring in front of an alien artifact and pledge to fight evil.

Where you lay it all out on the line. Where you stand before the American people after you've been elected to the Congress and you swear to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and abroad.
Now that's an oath.
So where then, I wonder, does a guy like Grover Norquist -- who grew up rich and is now a Lobbyist working for a group he founded called Americans for Tax Reform -- where does he get off demanding that Republican Senators and Congressmen take HIS oath, promising to oppose any and all Tax increases for any reason whatsoever.

And where do 236 Republican Congressmen and 41 Republican Senators get off signing a pledge that is in direct conflict with their oath of office?

You guys, you Republican office holders, were elected to support and defend the US Constitution and to execute the duties of your office -- and the last time I checked, promising to fight for the lowest possible income tax for individuals (and businesses) was not in your oath of office.

No, we need a new oath for you guys, and Oath to Money. I pledge to starve federal, state and local governments to the point where the quality of life in the United States is so crummy, where our schools and roads and government services are so godawful bad, that Mexico and Canada will both have to build walls to keep desperate Americans, yearning to live a decent life, from crossing over their borders.

And then I hope Grover and his pet Republican office holders will enjoy bathing in all the wonderful tax dollars they've saved themselves -- unill they finally realize how truly worthless money is when the only place you can spend it is in a garbage dump.

@BruceMajors I'm aware of all those things, but were you aware of the fact that a LOT of people will vote for ANYONE who promises to lower taxes, no matter what the cost to the nation? There are a ton of people in America who care about money and nothing else.

His tax views come from GOD HERSELF and he gets his EUPHORIC EPIPHANY and DIVINE INSPIRATION to lower taxes when Sarah Palin FUCKED his PUSSY and injected GOD JUICES into his BRAIN! When Palin becomes POTUS, she will cut taxes across the entire board and she will save our economy and balance our budget! @hayden50 Completely untrue. 40% of taxes goes to what you call a "welfare state". 20% of that is social security. Social security is NOT an entitlement program, it's something that you've paid into your entire working life and is currently in a surplus.

So in actualality only 20% of your taxes goes to lazy welfare moms and that's assuming every single one of those persons is cheating the system. Maybe you should look at the 40% that is used to fund the military.

you must know that welfare & entitlement programs are the primary reason why we're in this mess in the first place..i have no problem with my tax money being spent on infrastructure,police,military­, & other basic government services but i don't wanna see my money being spent on welfare moms & lazy bums who don't work as hard as i do. what we need is a temporary safety net NOT a welfare state.

All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing but make videos stating their opinions -- but you keep on talking ... heheh -- and I'll keep on hoping that the current right wing craze will be absorbed by the culture the same way the left wing craze of the 60s was ... and that our elected officials can manage not to destroy the country in the meantime.
