So THIS is where they got the idea to the "Clarkson island" sketch

@brabazon10 Well I'm sorry you feel that way, but we did want a bloc of flats. Nice though the abattoir is.
-
I met Mr. Whicker today in Cawsand, UK. I am from the US and didn't know how famous he was.
-
very funny lol

@Finglesham AW loved this sketch. He included it on his Journey of a lifetime program celebrating 50 years of travelogues and reporting, so good i bought the DVD.
-
Surely the real AW saw this as a compliment to his well known programmes. There is no bad publicity etc. A real gem though.
-
@MrVordas For me, this is one of my favourite sketches in them.
-
@stitchesinyourface Is this one of Your favorite sektches by them?

I think Chapman had the best impression. xD

" Father Pierre, why did you stay on in this colonial Campari land? Where the clink of glasses mingle with the murmur of a million mosquitos, where waterfalls of whisky wash away the worries of a world weary wicker, where gin and tonics jingle in a gyroscopic jubilee of something beginning with J. Father Pierre, why did you stay on?"

Alan Whicker loved this and wrote them. John Cleese sent back an autographed photo of the troupe at Winterton (UK resort where it was filmed) Norfolk in full Whicker costume with a note; "here's the evidence". A bit of worthless trivia...
