Transport Minister Shaul Mofaz is met with continuous boos and whistles when he tries to address a crowd at the opening of the Shayarot Etzion Junction. Protesters say they do not forgive him for his role in the Disengagement, in which more than 10,000 Jews were forcibly removed from Gaza and northern Samaria

  • @YILANGREN Some of most famous Mizrahi Jews in Israel are: (that I remember of)

Shaul Mofaz; Benjamin Ben Eliazer, Moshe Katsav, Eli Yishai, Ayalon, Gabi Ashkenazi, Amir Peretz.

Popular singer: Eyal golan, Zion golan, moshe peretz, chaim moshe; Boaz Mauda and many many more .

And by the way Mizrahi jews lost land 4 times bigger than Israel and $300 billion property. About 1.1 Million Mizrahi jews became refugees compared to 630,000 Palestinian "refugees"

  • @YILANGREN All Jews from Middle East and N Africa and called Mizrahi Jews or Sephardic Jews even though vast majority had nothing to do with Sefered( spain). Mizrahi Jews constituted about 70% of Israeli Jews until 1990. Even now they are 55%. Mizrahi Jews have been the life blood of Israel. From Singer to Politicians.

  • Moshe Katsav was born in Yazd, Iran. His family brought him to Tehran when he was an infant; in June 1951, when he was 5, they emigrated to Israel.

  • Moshe Katsav was born in Yazd, Iran. His family brought him to Tehran when he was an infant; in June 1951, when he was 5, they emigrated to Israel. He remains fluent in Persian. Upon arriving in Israel, the Katsav family was ultimately dispatched to an immigrant tent-camp in Israel's south, inland from the port city of Ashdod. In the winter of 1951, severe flooding inundated the camp, and Katsav's two-month old brother, Zion, was killed.

  • Wrong - Mofaz and Katsav were both born in Iran.

  • he was born in Tehran (although his parents came from Isfahan), Mofaz immigrated to Israel with his parents in 1957. Upon graduating from high school he joined the Israel Defense Forces in 1966 and served in the Paratroop Brigade. He participated in the Six-Day War, Yom Kippur War, 1982 Lebanon War, and Operation Entebbe with the paratroopers and Sayeret Matkal, an elite special forces unit

  • Just to make things clear:

They were NOT born in Iran.. The Parents/Grand Parents moved to Israel from Iran..

    So We're all good.

    Peace.

  • The former president of Israel, Moshe Katsav, is also Iranian. Our people are doing well, aren't they? :)

  • YILANGREN: Amen! May all corrupt, evil, useless politicians soon fade from the face of the Earth!
