Colombian student to president Obama

A student from Colombia talks about the reasons of the humanitarian crisis resulted from the violent displacement of over 4 million Colombians mostly Afro descendants and Indigenous peoples- and the role of the U.S. in that crisis.

This video was recorded during a protest in front of the White House demanding the Obama administration for a change in US policy towards Colombia. This rally was organized by Witness For Peace as a call on President Obama to discard the discredited war-on-drugs and free-trade models that only threaten to exacerbate the displacement. ni en en el gobierno Uribe ni en los otros. Y claro tiene razon al decir que los campesinos prefieren la muerte a irse de sus tierras, y por eso es que la mayoria de los que vienen a la ciudad son oportunistas, que no tenian trabajo en su pueblo o simplemente son uno vagos...porque gente de esa abunda en nuestro pais. Y si, el 40% de las tierras del pais son de los indigenas, pero en mapas, pero ahi las tienen, otra cosa es que esta plagada de guerrila, paracos, etc.

Mentira. Los territorios indígenas existen sólo en los mapas, porque en la realidad están invadidos por grupos armados ilegales o por multinacionales. Además, se nota que ud no conoce PARA NADA la psicología del campesino colombiano, que casi prefiere la muerte antes de dejar su tierra, porque es lo único que tiene en la vida. ¿Ayuda del estado? HA! Sígale creyendo a Uribe. Siga pensando que el 20% de la población se viene a vivir a las ciudades porque les gusta mendigar.

This is pretty funny. This "colombian student" doesnt seem to know much about his country. The problem is not the land, the problem is the ignorance of the people like him. Only Indians have 40% of the land in Colombia, and what are they doing wiht this 40%.....they´re asking for more. Poor people take violence as an excuse to move to bigger cities and then get economic help from the government. This doesnt happen in all the cases, but pretty much 60% or 70% all of the cases.
