This is my Homebuilt CNC Plasma that I built a year ago.
I designed it myself after looking at lots of other designs on the 'Net.
I took several ideas from different machines as well as a lot of my own ideas.
I also did all the electronics and wiring myself.
It cuts over a Water table to keep the parts cool and also to reduce the nasty Plasma dust.
I originally built the machine as a CNC Wood Router, and it worked really well in that configuration but I later decided to convert it to a CNC Plasma machine.
It runs a Hypertherm 1000 Powermax Plasma Cutter and has a THC300 Torch Height Control.
Here it is cutting 1.5mm (16swg) 304 Stainless Steel.

  • Nice machine, Why in the world do you have your water leval so high??? should be at least 2 inches down from the workpiece

  • @HHOREGON

I usually cut with the water approx. 1/2" from the surface of the steel.

It stops the thin steel from warping due to heat and also keeps the smoke down.

2" is way too low, it would not be worth having it at that level.

Some people even cut with water above the sheet!

  • Hey man it is a great machine, do you have an e-mail to contact you? I'm very interested to talk with you about this.

  • great machine. are sides too high if you wanted to put a heavy sheet on?

what are you using for torch height?

  • Did you build the table yourself and then add the electronics and motors? Can you give the build plans for this?

  • @HHOREGON on my machine i have to have the water up that high or its kinda pointless to have it. If i have it 2 inches down it doesn't catch half the smoke and none of the water comes up threw the cuts to cool the metal and keep the warpage down.

  • WOW- don't know what it's cutting but it really looks impressive!!

    john..
