Dr. Mike "DoctorMike" Reddy steps from the guest sofa into the presenter's chair for the #30 (12th June 2008) edition of the Develop GMA award winning "Games Night". There was only one more before XLeague was pulled off air. This is part three of four, taken from the iTunes feed version of the show, so apologies for the quality as it took several conversions to get it editable for YouTube. It was originally 640x360 wide screen SD, but editing seems to have squeezed it a bit. Sorry.

Of particular note in this part, the Easter Egg was that in part 3 we were all wearing white socks, having changed during the break. One regular guest on the show, David Jenkins editor of CEEFAX's GameCentral at the time, used to always wear white socks; he was often criticised on the XLeague forums and teased about it on the shows. In fact, one viewer DID actually notice this and won the prize but, as this was the socks in question, responded DNW (do not want) so they stay unclaimed...

Here are MY self-criticisms: I was getting tired by this point, so looked at my script and the running order more often than was ideal. I also fluffed my last line, which was meant to be: "If you want to know the secret to being paid to play video games, the secret is to study hard." Still, it was and is one of the best experiences of my life (so far) and not many people can say that they hosted a TV show!

Generally, feedback was positive, but I was likened unfavourably with Sophie Blakemore (Games Night's other "guest presenter" and the only female) in terms of appearance, and Paul Vale (the regular presenter who really is hard to top) in terms of polish. A bit like George Lazenby's James Bond, my personal favourite was Alan Boiston, who originally conceived the show, but wasn't perhaps the best presenter. A shame that the show wasn't allowed to continue, considering it won the Develop GMA a week or two later.

What would be really nice, would be Portland TV making all of these shows available on YouTube, as well as selected Inside Gaming and The Match episodes. I appeared as a guest on Games Night quite a few times and, even now, some of those debates are really interesting.
