Clans did originate in Scotland. Many families from those clans are here in America today. I think any family who fights for freedom against tyranny is a clan, no matter where you are from.

glad my family fought defending canada in 1812 as part of the Scottish militia in Canada,the tradition has been carried on through ww1 and ww2 i plan to join a highlander regiment to keep my families tradition alive.
