ACCLAIMED PASTRY CHEF AND FOOD NETWORK STAR GALE GAND
PROVIDES BRACES-FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN TIPS, TREATS AND RECIPES
Braces-wearing trick-or-treaters take heart: an unlikely hero has come to your aid to make this Halloween sweet and safe. Celebrity pastry chef Gale Gand, known for her decadent sweet creations on the Food Network's Sweet Dreams show, has teamed up with the American Association of Orthodontists (AAO) to provide braces-friendly Halloween recipes for the more than five million children and adults in North America who currently wear braces.
Halloween tends to be one of the busiest times of the year at orthodontists' offices, primarily because patients take liberties and eat treats that they should not be eating. The good news is that there are plenty of food options for orthodontic patients. And with a little diligence and creativity, orthodontic patients can still enjoy Halloween treats. In general, orthodontic patients should look for softer treats, such as soft chocolate or peanut butter cups, or melt-in-your-mouth foods.
Man, i'm crunching on some gobstoppers now.
I'm the worst kid with braces ever! (though i'm hardly a kid)
Funnily enough, the only time I knocked a bracket off was an accidental chewing of a cherry seed! So what does that say about fruit?!
Don't be idiots with the lollies, kids, and you'll find that eating this crap comes as naturally as if you had no braces.
