You could say things have gone from wedding bells to wedding hell for Kim Kardashian, since the reality star decided to end her marriage to Kris Humphries - after just 72 days!

Despite the bootylicious bride citing "irreconcilable differences" with the NBA player, speculation has been running rampant about the rumoured "real" reasons for the split.

Was the marriage a stunt to boost ratings for her show? Was the wedding orchestrated to net the couple millions of dollars in magazine deals and endorsements? Kim's camp has slammed the claims. And, whatever the reason, it's not the first and surely not the last of Tinseltown's short-lived celebrity marriages...

Pamela Anderson married rapper Kid Rock aboard a yacht in St Tropez, in July 2006. Despite Pammy declaring the nuptials "the best most romantic wedding of all time", the pair filed for divorce citing "irreconcilable differences" a mere four months later!

Renée Zellweger had a romantic beach-wedding to country singer Kenny Chesney, in May 2005. Just five months later, the Bridget Jones star filed for divorce, cryptically citing "fraud" as the reason for separating!

Daughter of The King, Lisa Marie Presley, got hitched to Elvis obsessive Nic Cage in August 2002. Sadly, it was a case of "Heartbreak Hotel" for the pair, who divorced 4 months later.

Before her ill-fated nuptials to comedian Tom Green, a 19-year-old Drew Barrymore married Welsh barman Jeremy Thomas in March 1994. The union lasted little under two months.

Elsewhere, Baywatch beauty Carmen Electra married Dennis Rodman in Las Vegas, in November 1998. Shortly after, Rodman's publicist reportedly claimed the basket-baller had been drunk during the "I dos", and the couple sought an annulment nine days later. We're guessing D-Rod got to keep the wedding dress...

But the shortest marriage in Tinseltown has to be that of Britney Spears and Jason Alexander. Dressed in jeans and a baseball cap, the singer married her childhood friend, Jason, in a Vegas wedding chapel in January 2004. They quickly recognised the mistake and the marriage was hastily annulled after 55 hours!
