Part Two (of three) highlights the Orthodox prophets St Nilus of Athos, Kosmas of Aetolia, and Ephraim of Syria although many other prophecies came from the Optina saints near Moscow in Russia (1860's) as they warned the Russian people of the coming Tribulations. Judith Irene Matta discusses these prophecies as detailed in Synaxis Press' "The Beginning and the End", Archbishop Lazar's compilation of the various prophetic utterances in early to later Middle ages. Orthodox Christianity in the East had no "dark ages", but the Holy Spirit was enlightening the Holy Fathers and Mothers with His Resurrection power and Incorruption to replace the corruption of death in our Mortal natures from Adam.

  • 90% of all Christians in book of Acts were Jewish converts - St. James was high priest of Temple before becoming bishop of Jerusalem using OT liturgical prayer for the New Covenant liturgical Eucharistic meal. Strong language warning against the jews was for good reason: many of those in the first 3 centuries of the Christian Church were being imprisoned and martyred by Jews. Secular Russians (20th cent.) adopted anti-semitic language from fascist Germany; this is being corrected today.

  • There is still one big error in orthodox teachings, they regard the Jews as Evil in a lot of their prophecies, they do not understand what God binded in Heaven will stay binded here. It applies to everything, not just marriage. Jews are God's people, they have never persecuted Christians, allways defenceded them, if anything, it is us that have persecuted them. They are persecuted because the Devil hates them, because they are chosen. Honor the sabbath, keep it holy, not applicable to Gentiles.

  • @bluebadal Old Covenant was fulfilled by the New: "This is the cup of My Blood of the NEW Covenant.." Jews certainly persecute - in some areas- those Jews converting to Christianity. They have a "funeral service"- don't you know this? We certainly do not regard the Jews as "evil"; they have the prophets and Moses! Met Anthony Khrapovitsky has done much this past century to reverse any czarist pogroms during which the Orthodox Church turned away its conscience!

  • @bluebadal Please see our new video "God Cares for You: Old and New Israel" just put on youtube.com. dealing with the major ties between Old and New Covenants.

  • On the contrary, St. Symeon the New Theologian speaks of the baptism of tears - and the prophecies of the Optina fathers are well known (1860's) near Moscow Russia. The Holy Spirit's gifts are treated with care, since they can cause pride. Therefore, Orthodox teachers emphasize establishing our hearts with repentance, patience, vigil, watching our hearts for subtle pride or passions. As a result, healings, prophecies, etc are rooted firmly in the humble heart giving always glory to Christ.

  • The Georgian Orthodox Christians and the Jews have a very long standing and close association from ancient times. Please see my Orthodox promotional videos on youtube under marykfilms.

  • @bluebadal what about these words "You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and has nothing to do with the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies."(John 8:44) Jews follow lie. They gonna have their moshiah.

  • @bluebadal The Church clearly understood itself as the people of Israel. Those Jews who rejected the messiah rejected God's blessing. In God's mercy even Gentiles may be the children of israel in the covenant of Christ's death and resurrection. I agree that anti-semitic language is not good, but also it is important to testify tot he truth. The Apostles were Jews who accepted God's revelation of himself. The Jews in the world today are simply those who have rejected this revelation.
