This is the voice of Violetta as she lay dying of consumption, yearning for her lost love, Alfredo and remembering her life. This is the genius of Callas -- to be able to express this. When you hear this aria, there is Callas and Muzio...then all else.

Roles of Crazyness are her battle field, she's damn good in singing Crazy characters

@charisaob You are so brilliantly right. She absolutely nails the pathos and longing and loss in this aria. It is heart-breaking.
Viva Callas!

Grande Callas, immenso Verdi!

@Supercalifragilis7 lol you are right, when i say critics, i mean many of the people here who judge no negative. Everyone has the right to like or dislike something, I dislike AC/DC for example, but i have the decency to admit they are very good musicians.

Callas had a voice pure clear and magic.Outstanding singer she was.No other person can imitate la Diva Callas.
many are idioitic opera critics, This Is Perfection! Period, She is a human who sings, not a god damn instrument, she needs to sound like a human, not a machine! The "imperfections" makes it superior and divine! Allows the pain, the emotion to come out, and that no music score can effectively do that.
One of my favourite arias.
