March 25, 2009 - House Budget Committee Ranking Member Paul Ryan on the Democrats' budget proposal:
"I said that this would replace the American system of government with a European-type system of government. That was unfair. That was unfair to Europe. This budget would be actually be in violation of the European Maastricht Treaty. This budget proposes, using your own numbers, that our deficit never even gets below four percent of GDP, which would put you in violation of the European Maastricht Treaty. This doesn't even conform to European standards."

  • @dhemingo There are two Part Ds. Ryan voted aginst the Democrat version that allowed the importation of drugs and goverment subsized drugs.

  • @genYprogressive He actually voted against Medicare Part D. If you're going to make BS up at least make up BS that can't be rejected in five seconds by goggling "Paul Ryan Medicare Part D". Don't dabble in sophistry, it's beneath you.

  • Paul Ryan voted for Medicare Part D, and he has the nerve to talk about the problems of Medicare. This guy is a joke.

  • Ryan is the right wings' nigger!

  • Funny you said that if we get invaded other countries would help us... no country has ever helped us since the revolutionary war when france helped us... the greatest example i can make for this is when we got hit with hurricane katrina, we had NO help from the international community... NONE whatsoever... we keep a strong military cause' we know we can't depend on anyone else except ourselves to protect our own nation... many nations want the US to fall... many nations maybe due jealousy. idk..

  • Your country is a member of the UN right? Then if any invasion happens to your country, you will get military support from like 10+ other nations.

There is enough money in the taxes that goes to military to pay for health care, if people don't want to pay so much taxes then something has to go. But whatever that happens in the US I don't really care much anymore, it's your country, your vote, do what you think is best for your children.

  • But I still think health care paid by the people will be better/cheaper than corporations. I don't trust corporations to take care about something of such importance and earn on it somehow. Universal health care don't care about profit, its only job is to help people in need. Yes you already pay large amounts to pay your military, about 50% of taxes I think. I don't see why you need such a military?

  • Your right about the problems with implementing health care in a country with 300 mill population. It's a reason why my country reaches to the top of the UN list of best countries to live in so many years in a row, and that's not all taxes and how our government uses the money, but mostly due to that there only lives 4+ million people here and that we got a lot of oil outside our coast.

  • that's good you make that amount of money in Norway i'm guessing... but you forget to realize that our unemployment rate and the fact that we have more people than your country makes giving everyone healthcare a fiscally retarded idea... we can't afford it as a country... norway can due to the fact that they aren't like the US in the way we have more world responsibilities than norway does... norway don't need a strong military or other stuff we have so they can afford healthcare...

  • people in communities do those things... you're right... but people with good hearts get y'all food and jobs and places to live... it's not the government's responsibility to provide everything... i'm not paying extra tax for someone to just chill and not work hard for something they didn't earn... healthcare is something earned... or at least great healthcare is something you work hard for... paul ryan is offering something a lot better than what obama is doing... obamacare cost too much...
