I believe Laura taught him how to read on the show at some point, if I'm not mistaken...

@Emotional2000 The question is how was Jane able to write a real letter (not in Braille)... The letter should have been in Braille and then Laura could have read it to Mr. Edwards. The only other explanation is that Jane dictated it to someone else...

When Laura told him her age was the same as jane's he looked pretty disgusted with him self :/ poor guy. I honestly don't like the age difference cuz it's like me dating my dad which is extremely gross and disgusting but if they deeply loved each other, and they were both my best friends I woul def. learn to accept it.

@Emotional2000 This is in response to @AtmaGyan and your comment Mary learned to write normal letters with a ruler. Maybe in the blind school they taught Jane to write with a ruler.

@AtmaGyan blind people who lost there sight and knew what print looked like can write in print. They use a ruler and there memory. Blind people can do almost anything sighted people can do. it just takes a little more hard work.
