In this segment from www.artistshousemusic.org, of a panel discussion on artist management presented at Loyola University, New Orleans in 2008, panelists Don van Cleave, Gary Gersh and Steve Rabolvsky assess whether independent journalist such as bloggers are susceptible to the allures of for-pay reviews, and what might happen to online news outlets who appear to have conflicts of interest between the reviews and news they publish and their sources of revenue.

  • Google 'buy youtube subscribers, views, myspace plays". Its a veritable marketplace that I hope YouTube and MySpace are aware of and are trying to regulate!

    For example:

    mp3 song plays (dot) com

    mymp3plays (dot)com

    And for YouTube:

    buy youtube views (dot) com

    webvideopromoter (dot) com

  • Bloggers maybe, but music consumers are not as easily led/fooled as they used to be.

Online consumers are starting to see past the virtual hype of artists using artificial means to market themselves and this is hurting online sales and social marketing overall.

An artist may appear to have millions of views and as many subscribers/fans while in reality having signifcantly less who are NOT rushing out to buy product.

The only people getting rich are those offering online fame and fortune.
