The adventure begins. And what an adventure it has started out to be. "May you live in exciting times." may sound good on the surface, but is, in actuality, an ancient Chinese curse. We had planned to have an uneventful and leisurely four days to reach our first destination in the Badlands of South Dakota. What we got was excitement, the worst kind.
Ultimately, I ended up spending more time under the vehicle than I did in the driver's seat as we suffered breakdowns on Saturday in the late afternoon far from any place to get service. Dealerships had closed for the weekend and I spent Sunday and Monday calling parts houses and salvage yards to patch the old Dodge back together.
Add to that the fact that I began to develop flu-like symptoms over the weekend and it made for very dramatic times indeed. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come...

  • Wow, never thought about newer trucks having a plastic gas tank...glad you were able to make it in.

  • @Wilks89 I knew it was plastic. I never dreamed the exhaust would melt it like that... =-0

  • Gah! YOU WERE AT FINGER LAKES?!?! *SIGH* thats a short ride from meh house

  • @yurkia360 Wow, I didn't know you lived that close to Columbia. At that point our trip was going fine and it would have been cool to do a quick meetup...oh well.

I stayed at Finger Lakes for a couple months in the fall of '97 while building an addition on the V.A. hospital in town. It's a really cool park. You should do a more in-depth review on its motorcycle coolness sometime...

  • holy smokes....literally, lucky that tank didn't catch fire.

  • @Fotoez ...or explode...

  • @RVDestination Yup, I am only about 20miles from columbia. I should have known you'd be coming through this area. OH WELL, live n learn. HEHE

  • @gogosor I'll be sure to post the footage I have of the M/C rack I built on the trailer. Although I mentioned it in the video, it really didn't fit with the material or time-wise, so I left it out...

  • I love the bike on the back of the trailer, must have been fun getting it up there, would love to see how you did it. Moving the family from one place to the other would be no fun if nothing when wrong :)
