Great text conversation.
One aspect not mentioned is that, back in 1982, all of this was NEW.
When it comes to Lady GaGa, I have seen and heard her no less than
6 times before, a manifestation of past Pop and Rock icons.
I will give Dale Bozzio the crown as the Queen of whatever historians
want to call her, her sound, her style.
I dig her because she is fun to listen to and to watch.
Lady GaGA leaves me down, cold, and depressed.

Isn't that ... I just read it, in May, now she's homeless, for not paying rent. She had like 12 or 15 cats... that's nuts.

You can throw stones but do you have talent? Famous for something? She brought many people joy. Gosh knows when I was in my 20's the sight of her body & face made me feel all funny.... and my clothes got tight..... ha ha.

By the WAY she is LADY GAGA. Look at pics of her and Gaga. Dale done that been their 28 yrs before. Gaga of course can sing, play piano and write.

It was a non sequitur to bringing up talent v fame, which requires ZERO talent today, but she is more famous than you and I. Talent? Sings in key most of the time with a limited range, signature squeals. Is that talent? You be the judge. As I said, Dale's not known for her singing, but entertaining? Yep. The other players master their instruments more than she masters vocals, agree, but it's not about pure talent, technical chops, it's ROCK n ROLL. If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad.

what about Randy Rhaods, he rejected the blues influnced sound of Hendrix & Clapton despite their heavy influence on the music he grew up with in the later 60s & 70s.

Don't heep too much credit on Randy for rejecting BLUES influences. What ever that means.... that's crazy talk. Randy was an AMAZING player that could play blues or whatever. He fueled Ozzy's solo career & just an all around nice guy from everything I ever read. Dumb ass pilot killed him.

What Randy had was insane technical prowess & ushered in, w/ many other players, Ed Van Halen, guitar riffs, "shredding", harmonics and pickings not done before. HE DID IT MUSICALLY, master technician.
