This segment is the fifth and final video in our series of how-to videos that explain how to set up a reef aquarium.

In this clip, we'll acclimate the fish, invertebrate and coral we bought at our LFS using the AccliMate from Reef Gently. Proper acclimation helps reduce the stress animals face after relocation.

Few things in this hobby are as simple, safe and effective as acclimating new livestock using the AccliMate by Reef Gently. The AccliMate comes in two sizes to accommodate most livestock that you will encounter and its usefulness as an aquarium multi-tool goes far beyond just acclimation.

  • how often do you replace the innovative marine filters on this tank? I have the 16 gallon with 2 mini filter pads and its been running for a 4 weeks. should i replace one every month? do you think you could just rinse them in RO/DI water and reuse for a little bit?

  • @lost2212x Thank you for watching our videos! The carbon (black) and phosphate (green) filter pads should be changed out as needed—at least once per month. The mechanical sponge (yellow) should be rinsed out weekly. For best results, you'll want to replace it every month.

  • you missed out the point of turning off the aquarium lights man :[]

  • @SuperSteveeeeee You're absolutely right. These were the first additions to our tank, although turning down/off your aquarium lights and/or dimming the lights in the room with your tank are best practices we certainly should have stressed.

  • What size tank is that???

  • @RCking250 It is a 38 Gallon Mini Nuvo Aquarium from Innovative Marine. It's a beautiful tank with plenty of storage in back for filtration.

  • @buddylulu91 Unfortunately for us the Onyx clowns were spoken for.... So we went with Ocellaris Clowns instead. They are doing quite well!

  • Awwe, where did the onyx clown from vid 4 goooo? :(

  • @TWhite2345 Each time we added live stock the water from the fish store was discarded. We then added a little more water to the box and then added the livestock to the acclimator. As for price it is on our website for $49.99

  • How many times did u drain and start over on the box?? And how much was this??
