Dom lost a tenth on the out of bounds. What's the deduction for the step out of bounds? .10 or .05? She scored 9.662 w/deductions, so this was probably the winning set if she lost a tenth on the step.
@darthmira I totally agree! I loved her back then, she was one of my fav's...floor was always my favorite of her's! It seemed like she never had a problem with the team competitions...it was always the AA and EF for her where she choked! She deserved all the win's at the 94' Nationals, which is why I think everyone was expecting her to medal at the worlds! Her Bronze Olympic Floor win was great too...I also felt she should have got the bronze on the bars as well at those Olympics! :)
@metsdudenj Yes, she absolutely deserved her floor medal--I was referring to bar scores only, sorry if that wasn't clear. I actually think she could have even got the silver medal on floor, but it was close (as were the scores...Amanar's crisp tumbling was tough to beat). But no one will ever be able to convince me her compulsory beam score was justified. It was a flat-footed, shaky mess with an awesome dismount. 9.200 at best.
@dbhmr Not true, her FX event final score was also fair, she deserved that bronze medal. her vault score was also fair. Her floor compluslory was too low. her beam compulsory score was fair.
@dbhmr I dont know why Miller would ever have a score over 9.9 on floor in the first place. Frankly I would take Dawes with a small mistake over Miller on floor anyday. And even if you disagree Miller got more than enough gifts in her career to make up for it.
As for bar finals Dawes was ripped off to only get a 9.8. She rocked her routine and clearly deserved a higher score. She was overmarked on in the team event and all around for the routines she did but in event finals got a lower score than she should have. I dont know if she deserved a medal but she should have been more than 0.12 ahead of Lilia and Amanar's routines.
Miller did not deserve a 9.912 on floor either, even via inflated National scoring. She had a bad landing on one of her passes and wasnt deducted at all. So it was tic for tac, but the better routine won.
@dbhmr yes we will have to disagree. I watched her compulsory beam and while shaky there is no freaking way it was worse than Strug and Borden. If Olympics werent in the U.S Strug would have scored 8.9. And Miller also made a mistake on floor at Nationals and her score was also a gift, relative to each other Dawes was better. As for weepy violin Miller has no presentation ability on floor at all and her drab music suits her zero expression. Her winning a World title on floor was a travesty.

@selesfan30 She is, but she overrotated her second pass that day and that should have, technically, put her below Miller's 9.912.
