@gunny556fly Over the course of the series, Mayberry grew from about 1200 to (in the Mayberry RFD days) about 2000. Given that and the kind of town it is, I think Andy and Barney could handle it just fine (with the occasional deputizing of Gomer, Goober, Otis, Floyd, and a few others).

when you think about these shows they are so boring but like NOT barney and andy are the best actors and they can take a show that with any other actors would be SO boring and dumb and turn it in the best show that even i as a 17 year old can enjoy
