yeah they were superb. got to see last shows in both Sydney and Melbourne, the last song at Wentworth at Sydney Uni beinga tin whistle version of Tom Dooley. now THAT'S legacy!

Truly wonderful band - but I am not sure they actually wanted much more fame - I remember an interview in a UK paper where Juliet said the Lighthouse Keepers didn't want to be "rock pigs playing in stadiums" and I assume the same may have been true of the Widdershins ...

@dm3830 I agree they were uninterested in fame, but it's sad when a band breaks up due to lack of interest in records as good as "Ascension"

Thanks for posting this sawbird. I saw the Widdershins at East's Leagues Club in Brisbane in the late eighties, and loved their album. I was always surprised they did not go large. They were fantastic.

@BarneyMaroon They were never going to be a mass appeal kind of band. But that's often the case with great music.
