Watch them dig an endless maze of tunnels. Twenty five ants for only $4.95 + tax. Have a magnifying glass to study your ants up close at home. Large ant farm I found in the garbage. The glass measures 25" x 21" & the wooden base is 26" x 5".

@dataworld1 it's sand that you can buy at any hardware store~ and put just enough water in it to soften it, and before putting the ants in.

@TheAdalaide if u have eggs that the workers are tending, the newborns will turn into what ever is needed within the colony
