The Garrard County Tobacco cutting Contest is open to everyone from every county in every state. This event is held annually in Garrard County Kentucky. This year marks the 30th year of the contest.

@HalfQ We call the stems, stalks. There are 6 stalks on every stick so that's 4.4 sticks per minute or around 27 stalks per minute. The cutters not only have to cut the stalks but they have to bend over and pick up every stick and stick it in the ground then place a spear on the stick. The spear is just a hard point that opens the stalk up so it can slide over the stick. They have to do a lot of things in that one minute.

@SurviveN2 I believe it! I have known lots of girls who have cut before. I rember one who cut in the contest several years ago.
