Six Degrees of Shirley Temple

In 1939, future oscar winner Peggy Ann Garner "debuted" as Carole Lombard's daughter in the film "In Name Only" (she previously had an uncredited role in "Little Miss Thoroughbred"). According to TCM, Variety panned the seven year old's performance calling her unpolished and over-coached. Peggy would later win a juvenile oscar for her performance in "A Tree Grows in Brooklyn," one of the most natural performances of any child star.
One of my favorite movies. Peggy Ann was really charming in this role.
