@daystilljersey Exactly. In good story telling there's foreshadowing and payoff.
-
This was a bad heel turn because Ron Garvin's career was never the same afterwards.
-
then there were crickets chirping...
-
one of the most underrated heel turns - Dusty sold it big time!!!

Thanks for posting the video! I was at this show. 11 years old, mowing lawns for ticket money for NWA at the Baltimore Arena. Never hosted Starrcade but we always got a killer Great American Bash card. And the Crockett Cup.

One of the best Swerves of all time!

When wrestling was great....no internet assholes telling you what's going to happen weeks ahead of time
-
@jshkendra Well if a manager (Paul Ellering) is making a bigger salary than 2 of the hardest working wrestlers in the company are, I don't blame them. That is part of the reason why Tully & Arn left and went to the WWE.

@datdamnleroygreene Not really. If you hint at it, fans start to want it and it makes sense when it comes, when it happens out of nowhere it just confuses people. Predictable is usually predictable because it's the right thing to do, nowadays the predictable is turned on it's head to try and 'swerve' the fans.

The original live pay-per-view broadcast had the announcer yelling "Holy S**t!".
It was blepped out here.
It should have been heard at 0:59 of this clip.
back in the day where the time limit mattered....no internet spoilers to warn you of the turn...classic heel turn....
