Here you can see a bunch of freshly hatched baby snails. Only a few days old. And their parents. The mom is a golden mystery snail. The dad is a blue (looks green) mystery snail. Sometimes called apple snails, it's hard to determine which breed they are but I'm almost positive that both are from the Pomacea bridgesii variety.

  • My Japanese trapdoor snails had 7 babies a few weeks ago. I returned the adults to the pet store where i bought them. I feed the babies fish flake food but i'm thinking of switching over to algae disc. Is this better for them?

  • Yeah definately buy the algae disc. They love that stuff. Snails are Omnivores so they will eat meat or algae, but they really do love the algae. For a while I was feeding them shrimp pellets. They seem to like those too.

  • how cool!!! what on earth do you do with all of them?? :)

  • I got an extra tank for the babies, but the Big Ice storm killed most of them. Sad, but I still have 5 big babies that have grown bigger than the parents were. It's really cool.

  • I just noticed my mystery snails had a batch of eggs in my 29 gallon. The snails are in the 10 gallon and the eggs are in the 29 gallon. I never took care of mystery snail eggs before and I don't know what to expect. How long until they hatch?

  • Keep them moist. I used a spray bottle to put a light mist on them once a day. More frequent is probably good too, but Don't drown them, they will drown if they get too wet. Expect them to hatch in about 4 weeks. Also, keep your eyes out to see if they're mating. That'll assure you that the eggs are firtile.

  • snails mate the same way we do. they crawl on eachother to be close enough to send the singnal to their bodies that their mating.

  • @mealwormsworld they r easiest to breed man, just keep 1+male with a 1+female

  • can you make a vid on how to breed them

  • my friends snail only had 1 snail right now tht she txtd me =//////////

  • I spray them about 4 times a day. The first batch I don't think will survive but the second batch (Yes I got another one the day after I found the first one,) I think will survive. I have 4 big mystery snails and a ton of little ones. I don't know how they mate but they are always on top of each other and touching each other (like their bodies, not their shells)
