Photos of Joey Hateley and Hugo Vera by Ana Belen, Santiago Teran, Ana Almeida, Music by Xavier Muller. Our book and accompanying film 'De-colonial grass-root activism, cross-cultural performance, Subversive Loves and Alternative Uses of the Law', by Elizabeth Vasque and Joey Hateley is about the collaborative process between Casa Trans ('Different Bodies Same Rights' Quito, Ecuador) and TransAction (Manchester, UK) documents and discusses the subversive legal strategies and cross-cultural performance in staging the first (trans) 'gay' marriage to change the Matrimonial/Gender Law in Quito, Ecuador. The book that will be funded by the Ministry of Culture, Ecuador, (seeking UK publishers) will discuss how Casa Trans and TransAction's, shared ideologies, methodologies and objectives led to the creation of this gender-queer inter-racial trans-national matrimonial project, which attempts to subvert hetero-normative immigration, gay assimilation, 'gay corporatism' and 'gay imperialist' narratives by creating a space where our alternative family values, polyandrous queer kinships and our intersecting communities can be cross culturally represented and legally validated.
