Triple Drop playing Lata Town in RTE Studios for the Radio show Arena.
A dangerous energy, from where The Clash, The Specials and The Pogues left off, mixed with pumping back beats and dirty bass lines a la Soulwax and LCD Soundsystem, Triple Drop's live shows never fail to impress. An eclectic, dynamic band with great character they are straight to the point.
Taking a page out of the DIY punk scene, they have a hard work ethic that leads them to relentless gigging and a set list crafted in bedrooms and rehearsal studios that ranges from punk to ska to dance and a hint of psychedelia.
Since forming in early 2009, they secured a residency in Eamonn Doran's and went on to win Noise '09 Battle of the Bands, judged by Today FM DJ Paul McLoone, musician Catherine Dowling of Alphastates and music critic Chris Wasser. With no time to waste they spent the winnings transforming their live sound into their exciting debut single "In Your Smokey Little Room" and debut self titled EP recorded in Contact Studio.
The boys met in February 2009 and bonded like brothers. Since then they have played over 200 gigs around Ireland in Venues such as Whelans, The Village, Twisted Pepper, Crawdaddy and The Roisin Dubh in Galway and played support to acts such as The Dirty Epics, The Frank and Walters and Alphastates. With new drummer Sergio who compliments this band's sound perfectly they show no signs of slowing down.
