In the last week the southern portion of the Valley was hit by two rain storms that caused more than 80 Imperial Irrigation District power poles to collapse. The incident caused an outage that lasted a couple of hours. The poles came down on top a few houses in Southeast Calexico, leaving the residents with roof damage. Officials from the Imperial Irrigation District estimate that it will take them about 2 to 3 weeks to repair the damages and cost millions of dollars, which they hope to have reimbursed by the state.
