The LFO of the A-191 is triggering the envelopes. One envelope opens the VCA, the other modulates the frequency of the A-121 filter. The LFO from the pro-solo is FM-ing one VCO while the resonance of the A-122 LPF is FM-ing the other VCO for varying LFO effects each time the envelope opens. The frequency of the a-122 is being modulated by the A-147 LFO. The timing of the square LFO triggers the envelope on the upbeats. The combination of synced and free running LFOs FM-ing the VCOs provides a nice pseudo-random glitch-like accompaniment to the drum track that comes in about a quarter of the way into the video. The rest of the instrumentation joins about half way into the video to show how it fits into a full track. See more at www.isotopeofme.com

  • I don't get it, but it sounds cool. Are all of the percussive sounds coming from self oscillation, or is there an external sequencer, keyboard, or sound source involved. No idea why you are using the A-191 and the Kenton Pro... just for the LFO?

  • The doepfer is only making the sounds that you hear at the beginning. The only MIDI it is receiving is timecode to sync the LFOs, no sequencing

The LFOs are triggering the envelopes, adjusting the decay on the VCADSR and modulating the frequency of the VCOs so that each time the envelope opens there's a different sound.

Yea, I'm just using the Kenton and the 191 because they have the midi synchronized LFOs.

All in all it was just an experiment to see what I could do without sequencing a part.
