Seeing what he is doing certainly doesn't make it any easier, but it cleared up a mystery for me. When I had only heard him play this piece on an audio CD, I didn't realize he was also using his vocal cords (starting 7:28 into the video). I asked myself, "What is he doing? Is that sympathetic string vibration? Is it feedback?" Yes, he is amazing. I have his recital CD on the Naxos label, and his complete solo guitar works of Villa-Lobos.

Ahhhh, Fabio, voce da' dedilhadas, da' rasguadas, da' pontadas nas cordas, da' rasqueados, da' puxadas aqui e acola', batidas na caixa, unhadas por aqui e por la', ..... nem parece musica.... parece fundo musical de um filme sinistro onde um assassino me espera na virada da esquina.... . mas depois de tudo isso feito, sai uma musica melodicamente aprasivel aos ouvidos! Como e' possivel isso ? Nao entendo!!!
