Fire in Beijing CCTV North tower (Mandarin Oriental) on last day of Spring Festival

This building, one block to the east of us, is totally engulfed in fire. It's the north wing of the new CCTV tower. t's an ultra-modern really funky-shaped building with windows only on two sides (fluted aluminum on other two--at least that's what it looked like). Was going to be flagship hotel of Manadarin Oriental, and one of the nicest hotels in the city. No more. I took this video about 1-1.5 hr after the fire broke out. I think this was past its peak but still going pretty strong.

Pretty crazy to think that fireworks caused that. Good thing it wasn't in use yet!
