Sr. Bianca Haglich is an artist who began teaching sculpture and ceramics at Marymount College, Tarrytown, NY. In 1968, she went on sabbatical in Finland where she studied weaving in depth. Impressed by the many weaving centers in Finnish towns, she decided to begin a similar center at home.
The weaving center is located at Marymount Convent in Tarrytown, New York. Sr. Bianca teaches various workshops and gives private tutorials. Looms are available for rental. It is a warm, inviting place where everybody is very friendly and supportive of one another.
"Weaving is an artistic process. A time consuming one, but very creative; It's not a dying art. It's a craft that is alive and well," said Sr. Bianca
The Weaving Center that Sister Bianca has created is a haven of peace and creativity. This video gives a great overview of the Center as well as being a tribute to Sister Bianca's remarkable achievements. See more about The Weaving Center at their website.
