  • Its my understanding that fiber optics is not affected by how much your neighbors use.

I have not noticed any slow down during peek hours.

  • Sorry it 72.22 after taxes and fees

  • I am paying about 60 a month for phone and internet

  • why not use the same speed tester both times?

  • I used the same server in New york for both test

  • The slowest speed that Verizon offers is 50 MB... why is everyone taking up for Comcast... fios can go beyond a terabit per sec but the technology isn't ready for it yet.

  • Comcast is still the fastest, Comcast's speeds are around the levels of T1

  • @matt526S you are 100% correct.

  • Is fiber optic or FIOS speed dpendent on how much your neighbors use as well?

  • i want to get verizon fios soo bad but atnt is in my stupid area and they wont install it because verizon said that they wont mess with atnt

  • I have Chester Comcast. Their customer support is shit, and if they feel you are using excessive bandwidth (Read:playing a game) they cut you off for 20minutes - whenever they feel like turning it back

  • the worst is Cox haves a data usage cap

  • @joeyhol75 no shit Sherlock but without docsis3 the 50mb+ speeds I was getting wouldn't be possible

  • @jSterling822 DOCSIS3 is just the modem they gave you. Comcast did not build a new network for you bro.

  • @bigbri0507 Thats because the "box" on the pole ( which is an Optical network terminal) brings a singl node to your neighborhood. You and 100 other of your neighbors are sharing the bandwith of a single fiber. Where as Fios,( which is 100% fiber, not half fiber and half coaxl) has a dedicated fiber brought staight to your house. Either way an ONT needs power to convert a digital signal sent optically to a digital signal sent electronically.
