When you first start the game, and whenever you choose to start at the beginning of evolution, you start as a cell (which swims in water). Over time, you get more parts for your cell until you can go onto land. Once a land creature, you can still swim. However, you can't eat or mate in the water, so at some point you must go back to land.

Hey metroid apparently you cant be a undewater based creature... But i have seen creatures swimming, so whats the deal with that? do you killed at a certain point if you swim to far?
