Breast cancer has become the poster child of cause-related marketing campaigns - people walk, run and shop for the cure. Each year, millions of dollars are raised in the name of breast cancer, but where does this money go and what does it actually achieve?
Pink Ribbons, Inc. is a feature documentary that shows how the devastating reality of breast cancer, which marketing experts have labeled a "dream cause," has been hijacked by a shiny, pink story of success.

I have always resented the ribbon. Over the past 30 years, I have been diagnosed and treated for breast cancer, 3 times. The pretty ribbon does not reflect the women who struggle and lose, who by no fault of their own, suffer because they are not acknowledged, people look away or even worse, think they are failing to do the right thing by no walking to raise money to pay people's salaries and benefits.. to raise money!

@BenkaiDebussy I agree, the causes are not being explored. I was shocked when SGKomen denied BPA - Breast Cancer link. (10/11) At the same time I am also sensitive to the fact that valid alternatives which do not make pharmaceutical profits are ignored. e.g.:No one (but me) wins when I chose red clover herb over Tamoxofin. So no one publishes its use/efficacy. In any case, looking forward to Pink Ribbon Inc.!

@bonniedbtsside The problem isn't that a cure is being hidden. The problem is that the cause likely stems from changes in the environment caused by the activities of some profitable industry. The whole "pink ribbon" culture deflects focus away from finding the actual cause and holding those at fault responsible.
Pharma companies are corrupt, but science itself isn't. If a potential cure existed, it would still be researched. But there isn't enough public research funding.
