This is the song that got me to pay attention to Ani way back when. While I'm not a fanatic I still deeply respect what she has done with music and poetry. This particular song has made me cry on many occasions due to its message and delivery. Always remember that no, those assholes really aren't worth dying for.

Ani is no different than anarcho-folk singers or folk singers from the past. If you like Ani Difranco, try RYAN HARVEY, MISCHIEF BREW or EVAN GREER.

I think what makes Ani different is her ablity to discuss a wide range of issues from different angles. She is anti ignorance more than any other labels you could put to her name.

The anti-war, anti-capitalist Ani is still there, nothing has changed....her music on Red Letter Year may have a different emphasis and direction (having a kid can do that to you), but I really don't think anything has changed in her heart. I suspect she doesn't hold "many of the same ideals", I suspect she holds all of them.
