Teresa Carey lives on her sailboat Daphne with no flush toilet or shower, an icebox for a refrigerator, no television and few electronics. She doesn't see it as a sacrifice, but as an opportunity to live a bigger life unfettered by her possessions.

  • To answer what seems to be the top question for so many- how Teresa affords this lifestyle- she is filming a new video fro me to edit right now. It should be up in the next couple of months. And no, she doesn't have a trust fund nor rely on her parents. She works a lot.

  • @kirstendirksen Doing what? how does she make her money?

  • @1ghostronin Everything and anything... she's been a housecleaner, a teacher, a waitress... I will try to post a new video with her on the topic soon.

  • What does she do for money and work? Even a simple lifestyle like that costs money.

  • This is awesome! I would love to live a life like this!

  • @SailingSimplicity Thanks for the reply, good luck I hope you get what your looking for. Snow and ice living on a boat! I cant even fathom that, I live in Australia and plan to live on a yacht too but it will be all sunshine for me :)

  • @SailingSimplicity Thanks for taking the time to reply. I really appreciate that and will take a look at your blog for more info. You're a source of inspiration to us all! Bye.

  • very good video, please make more

  • @MrCaptainchronic99 I'm glad you enjoyed the vid. Kirsten made it and I think she did a great job. It must have been hard to sell your Dad's belongings. I can be so sentimental sometimes. But onward you go and I'm sure you'll be headed off to try a new surf destination soon. Good luck to you!

  • @keatsblake100 This question has been asked a lot and I try to address it on my blog, which is titled Sailing, Simplicity, and the Pursuit of Happiness. The post called Money Money Money! To answer your question briefly, I afford my lifestyle by working hard at jobs, saving, then traveling for a bit, then getting a job again. The key for me has been to reduce my expenses. I don't have a lot of money, but at this point in my life I am flexible enough to make lifestyle sacrifices for opportunity.

  • @1ghostronin Typically, yes. I need to pause to work for a while. However, I tend to anchor and not use docks, unless I'm spending a winter where there is snow and ice. I'm stationary most of the time and travel much less than I would like to. I'm no longer sailing solo. I sail with my partner who does have an internet business as a freelance web designer. I am currently looking for work and trying to build a writing career, which would also be mobile work if I am successful.

  • It's great to hear that from a young girl like you - living with less comfort and more in challenging situations like this; life did not exist in just that small space, but exist so much more space than that... in the ocean!

  • @kirstendirksen Ok so she has to dock for months at a time to get a job then save some money before she can go anywhere else. I think people are assuming that she has say an internet business where she gets money from that so it doesnt matter where she is.

  • Geat video ! What make and model boat is that ? I want one. Whats the draft ? Does anyone know ?
