Instron 5569 system performing a tensile test on a plastic specimen with Bluehill 2 software and an Advanced Video Extensometer. In recent years, plastics have found an even greater range of use by tailoring properties through the mixing of different polymers (co-polymers and blends), as well as additives (fibers and fillers) into the same compound or through dual processing technologies. Blending an additive technology requires an even greater degree of care in testing.
