@kaslerpaul OK ... so a couple of things. Firstly it is really easy to remove if you need to. Simply push on the back and slide off each end. But secondly ... why would you remove it regularly? This is designed for people who have a dedicated iPad for their home. The whole idea is that you dock it on to a station and walk away. You'll know where it is next time you want it and know that it is fully charged.

We have just received an early LaunchPort Wall unit and will report back on our findings.

We have previously used the iRoom iDock. This is much more expensive and quite fussy to try and get the unit to open up to allow the iPad to be removed. The LaunchPort looks like a much simpler and a more elegant solution.

I agree with Matt...integrate your iPad with the Harmony Link and control up to eight A/V devices!

Palm/HP has this since 2 years.....
Having seen this product in person I will point out some things that some people do not find obvious...a) an Ipad can be used as an interface for distributed audio video systems b) you can interface it with security cameras, motorized window coverings, heating and cooling system as well as anything you need to control. What this product offers is now you know where the Ipad is, it is always charged and unless a magnet loses its pull, it will never fall off the wall until you remove it....
