  • The men that filmed this were killed by their exposure to the deadly radiation. It creeps me out to think of the men that first went into the plant to put out the fire, they were killed almost instantly.

  • I had read somewhere that the soldiers (human robots/liquidators) were given the choice of either being in the service for a full term or to just do this one job with a guaranteed early tirement afterward. I'm not sure what I would have chosen.

As for the red forest, I read that it wasn't literally glowing red. However, many of the plants and trees had abnormally sized branches and leaves.

  • this was litlle less then 8 hours after the explosion and it's still burning !!

  • you're full of crap.

  • I never said it wasn't flawed. Just that meltdown doesn't automatically mean design flaw, any more than plane crash = design flaw.

  • Well, the design itself was flawed. It didn't have a container shell, which is one of the worst mistakes that can be made when building a nuclear power plant. If this plant had had a shell, the surrounding area wouldn't have been exposed to such a great amount of radioactive material.

As TheBadMaus said above, the design for the control rods was also flawed. If you can't move the control rods, then your reaction will go on until disaster occurs because the reaction has gone out of control.

  • the best design in the world can't prevent operator error.

  • How is it a good design if it melted down?

  • What does he say? =0

  • actully the photographer is still alive! his name escapes me but he has massive health problems he stayed in chernobyl for like 3 months after the incident

  • what does he say then?
