I use about a table spoon of liquid allox, and a shot of peanut oil seems to work pretty well. It does not seem to smoke as bad either. It makes cleaning the barrel of my gun much easier.

Yes, generally, any homemade bullet lube makes an excellent fluxing material.

Beeswax tends to burn a little dirty, but not too bad. Parrafin wax creates more smoke so its a trade off.

Some crayons are "washable" for if you have a creative kid....so I imagine they are not oil-based. Look on the pack and make sure they are not washable as they will not mix with the lube. Just my opinion of course.

I use a similar concoction myself, though I will usually adjust hardness on the final product to suit my needs, as I prefer a harder lube for rifle rounds. No idea if it makes a difference, but it makes me feel better.

Mine is 1-1/2lbs paraffin, 1/2lb bees wax, couple green crayons and 2 tblspns of Lee liquid Alox. I then add in Lucas oil treatment to get the consistency I want.

Seems to work OK for me.

Thanx man. I do have one question. I added a few crayons to mine but after it melted it just wanted to sink to the bottom and never really mix well just small bits

"Gas treatment"?! Isnt that just a petroleum solvent such as mineral spirits? It probably evaporates during the melting process and adds very little to the lube; if f you were using beeswax you could use the gas treatment to dissolve the wax, but such a small amount would do very little or anything to the mix. I really do think you need to use STP OIL treatment, instead.

You get leading in your barrel which drastically decreases your accuracy.

@Iraqveteran8888 How hard is your lube once it solidifies? I've tried this recipe using some beeswax and parafin with vaseline and STP but it comes out really soft. I can easily smear the lube out of the lube grooves with my finger.

Lubing 30 cal gas checked rifle bullets fired at moderate speeds up to jacketed speeds.
