With the Holiday Season upcoming, here's Eva Cassidy singing a lovely Christmas song by Billy Poore and Tex Rubinowitz. If you like to sing along, please check below for the lyrics.
I wish you all a Merry X-mas and a Happy and Peaceful New Year.

It's Not The Presents Under My Tree
(Billy Poore/Tex Rubinowitz)

Here it is Christmas again this year
Everyone's filled with the season's good cheer
This is my Christmas love song to you
For your holiday spirit all the year through
Snow may not fall but it matters not
The one thing I want I've already got

'Cause it's not the presents under my tree
It's your presence right here next to me

Gifts wrapped with ribbons don't mean a thing
My greatest gift is I'll wear your ring
To see in your eyes and what's in your heart
That's to know we'll never be apart
And to share each day of the year with you
Makes all my Christmas dreams come true

'Cause it's not the presents under my tree
It's your presence right here next to me

Yes that means more than a Christmas of white
Colored lights twinkling ever so bright
And when they sing of that Christmas of blue
I feel so fortunate sad about you
Each day of the year you brighten my life
And I thank the Lord on this Christmas Eve night

'Cause it's not the presents under my tree
It's your presence right here next to me

I don't look for presents under my tree
Only your presence right here next to me

  • Merry Christmas everyone.

  • I just learned of this wonderful talent today. She was absolutely amazing. I cannot believe we have lost her before so many heard her.

  • @ss9548 Every song Eva sang had a special tender touch that was unequivocal hers. Fortunately she will always be remembered through her music. To your and my comfort, a fellow countryman once expressed your feeling in a song with the words "Sometimes it's better to loose something beautiful than never having owned it".

  • Eva sounds young on this song

  • @poopsienoremac According to her official website Eva recorded this Christmas song in two different sessions, first in May and then again in July, 1990. So, at the time of recording she was 27 years old.

  • @sunshine08ist You might have trouble finding it as it's 1st major release was through Target stores on one of their Xmas discs. My buddy Billy wrote this song. After Eva passed, record companies from all over were trying to get there hands on this song! Best of luck!

  • @ss9548 I have been listening a lot to Eva Cassidy since I first heard about her 3 months ago. This doesn't sound like Eva. IF it is, (and I guess it is???.....) but if it is, it's when she was very young. She has a different voice than this on all the rest of her recorded songs. ? Wish I found another one. Listen to her "Silent Night". That's what Eva sounds like.

  • amazing voice :)
