lol. mazep was politician first. he would never start doing anything unless he was sure it goes to work. he overestimated carlus's military might due to carlus' easy victories over pollish king. driven away from the church he died, as a homeless dog.
Mazepa did not die like a "dog". He was surrounded at the the time of his death by his loyal brothers in arms, P. Orlyk (who wrote the FIRST European constitution), Kost Hordienko, leader of the Kozaks who supported Mazepa and many others who made sure he had a funeral fit for a king. Yes, Mazepa did many good things for Ukraine, he was an enlightened ruler who loved Ukraine with all his heart.
lies are bad. instead of reading *..... ruski geman Ivan Mazepa...* the author said *... pan (mr.) Ivan Mazepa. i believe that Mazepa really did many good things for Ukraine when being put as ukrainian getman by russian tzar'. Ukraine was united with Russia and Mazepa served russian tzar' as his trustful representative in Ukraine. what did push him to betray Russia in the end of his life? anyway, it was fatal mistake. swedish king Carlus got beaten by russians and Mazepa died as a dog, in exile
Peter's deeds are great and well visible, Mazepa's deeds before treason were good but small. possibly, he (mazepa) had a saliery's complex.
