Those of you who like Barry Atwater will enjoy this opening-credits sequence from the "Night Gallery" episode "Doll of Death." Atwater was one of those actors who often got shafted in the credits department, and in a way this is an egregious example. While he's clearly the male "star" of the show, he isn't one of the three actors listed as "starring" in the episode during its opening scene; instead, he is listed as "co-starring" at the end. However, the series also featured a spoken introduction of each episode's stars during the opening credits, a la Quinn Martin's shows, as well as the listed one in the opening scene, so they sort of got double credit. Occasionally, an actor's name was spoken in the show's opening but not "listed" in the opening scene, as is the case here. (On this show, Murray Matheson gets a listed "starring" credit but not a spoken one.) Credits are weird...I'll never understand them. There was a period in the early 70s where Atwater got a few choice ones (along with some better-than-usual parts), including the first "guest star" listed on a "Kung Fu" episode and a great "and" one at the end of "The Night Stalker" (though his opening credit wasn't so great). So...enjoy this superb actor getting his due: an "and Barry Atwater" spoken credit after Susan Strasberg and Alejandro Rey, just like a real A-list TV star.
He also was credited as 'G.B. Atwater' on a few things, like Perry Mason, The Fugitive and The Invaders.
Oddly, he appeared on The FBI as 'Barry Atwater' ("The Mercenary) around the time of that Invaders episode ("The Organization").

Atwater, like many other middle-aged men of the time, was poorly served by the longish hair styles that became popular in the late 60s and early 70s. That aside, I always thought he was an excellent actor and he's fortunate to have such a dedicated fan preserving his legacy here on YouTube.
