This glitch requires Debug Mode to be enabled.
Here's how to skip to the end of an Act in a level. You'll see 3 demonstrations of how this works. The first 2 are on Emerald Hill 1, the 2nd of which shows Sonic standing the other side of the sign (you can move left while the screen scrolls right). The 3rd demo shows the trick being used in Oil Ocean 1. You'll notice the screen stops moving at one point. Sonic sank in the lava and died off-screen. Get into Debug as soon as the screen stops and it will scroll again. Make sure to position yourself high as the screen scrolls then come out of Debug Mode so you'll drop back down at the finising area. This also works in Sonic 1, but not in Sonic 3 & Knuckles.

This is possible in all 16bit sonic games and doesn't require debug mode you just need enough speed. Only problem is in most S3K levels you will be placed far beyond the boss area in the loopback area, however, if you can get the screen to line up witha boss while its chasing you, it will lock and you will be teleported to the nearest corner on the screen. If youve seen the TAS or even many RTSs of S3K you'll see this and many other forms of level skipping or zipping. it is a very broken game.

It does work in S3K tho not on AIZ1 for some reason and if you want to do it on an act 2 you need to die first to reset the boundries notably AIZ2(Debug only for now), MGZ2 and ICZ2 are exceptions. In AIZ and ICZ you can even skip the miniboss as act 2 actually loads when you reach a certain point, miniboss cutscene AIZ or passage before sonic or knuckles miniboss ICZ and in MGZ the boudaries are reset for act 2 to transition from the vertically looping act 1.
