Few people, even those owning KENWOOD TS-2000 radios seem to know it has a fairly competent band scope built in. It is small in size. It does only show stronger signals. But if your looking for a band opening, or looking for where the stronger signals are that you might want to talk too, this works great! It is especially useful on 160, 10 and 6 meter bands instead of spinning the dial from end to end or going into Scan mode. Drink your favorite beverage and have a quick bite while you let your TS-2000 do the work. There are certainly far better external solutions but this basic scope is readily at hand. See pg 70 in manual. Press and hold DISP button.

  • hi

can you re do the tube on how todo the band scope ?

  • Hi. Just click on the down arrow to the right of "Show more" and you will see the how to do information.

All you have to do is press and hold the DISP (Display) button per instructions on Page 70 of the TS-2000 manual. This will work for the Main or Sub Receiver.

Memory VFO/M and SCAN buttons must be off.

The scope show sigs that are S9 or stronger. S3/S5 sigs are possible. The limit is due to the resolution of the square "pixels" of this type LCD display.

  • We all would prefer larger display but when you realize that S9 or greater peaks show, you can use it to slide & select any of these stronger signals from this display. For less than S9, you have to use just your ears unless you have an expensive external solution. From the perspective that it was included in the rig for no extra cost, it's great. It is not in the TS-590 by the way.

  • Hi Andy. All you need to do is to press and hold the DISP (Display) button. This is for the main HF receiver. If you have your sub receiver turned on and it is scanning, stop that scan first, then go back to Main receiver and press/hold DISP until you see bandscope sweep start. To stop sweep but still display, briefly press DISP. Now you can spin VFO knob and you will see a blank pixel move on the scope to show position relative to peaks. Try on 20m today w contest activity. Max RF gain
