This is the opening title sequence from the seventh episode of UNCLE's first season, THE GIUOCO PIANO AFFAIR (November 10, 1964), featuring Jerry Goldsmith's original theme. For the first few episodes, Napoleon Solo, Illya Kuryakin and Alexander Waverly introduced themselves to the viewing audience. Also included in the title sequence was a nameless voiceover explaining the basics of the U.N.C.L.E. organization and its front of Del Floria's Tailor Shop.

  • Illya Kuryakin, admirably played by David McCallum, "caught fire" as a character according to Wikipedia. Leo G. Carroll had been a steady character actor particularly in Alfred Hitchcock movies before he became prominent late in his career in the late 50s playing a character known as "Topper", a banker haunted by "friendly ghosts on a program called by the same.name.

  • WoW! that is fab - I was a great fan and having now finished watching 'Hustle' I can't believe that was sooo long ago...

  • @kitti0702, I was referring to those obscure shows like "Slattery's People", "For The People", "Coromet Blue", "East Side/West Side" and "The Trials Of O'Brien". Those good shows, @trysometruth, are NOT on D.V.D.. Even classics like "The Defenders" and neglected gems like "The Felony Squad" deserve a D.V.D. release.

I don't know if you've had a post to your comment, but the episodes are available on DVD. A boxed set of all four seasons was released about three or four years ago. Warner Brothers has just compiled all eight movie releases into a set as well.

Individual episodes or seasons can be purchased and downloaded through Amazon and iTunes.

  • Jill Ireland was married to David McCallum the time this episode aired.

  • @trysometruth, too bad none of those shows are on D.V.D..

  • @Neville6000 Nothing wrong with the Beverly Hillbillies OR Green Acres.

  • Leo G. Carroll was seen a few years earlier as "Topper".

  • @trysometruth: You sure did.

  • @Neville6000 I was watching TV back then and I've never heard of Slattery's People, For The People, Coronet Blue, East Side/West Side, or The Trials Of O'Brien. If those shows were as good as the titles just 'sound', looks like I missed some good TV.
