@5diddo My dad was a machinist in the Air Force. He was stationed at Travis AFB, CA and Altus AFB, OK. I seen these giants takeoff and land everyday. And they are loud.

I was a loadmaster on the C-5. My shortest Take-off in the C-5 was less than 1500 feet with 60,000lbs of fuel and my longest was 11,500ft at 840,000lbs. Gross Weight EWP. When leaving Ramstein Germany, depending on cargo, we would either stop in the Azores or England. But most of the time it was non-stop with approx 240,000-260,000lbs of fuel (depending on headwinds). It is not unreasonable to believe this flight was a non-stop flight.

long as the pilot rams the engines to maximum full power the C-5 will take off but needs at least 8,400 ft (2,600 m) fully loaded i believe.

Hehe... it says in descritption that the runway is less than 2000 metres..
This runway is 6660 ft long,and that is 2030 metres... hehe..
And your right about the nonstop flight.. C-5 has the world record in its class,and took of on 6340ft long runway. it then had a TOW at around 290 tons! thats increddible :D

It's Amazing that Big Ass plane can get off the ground LOL Love That C-5

They brought a C-5 into my local airport for airshows years ago. The longest runway is 6350' also under 2000m. Seemed like an elephant trying to get off the ground. You wondered how it got into the air.
Sure that plane is heading direct to New York??
He is using so little runway it looks like he's refuling at Gardermoen..

@ollo1982
We were invited on board during the stay; the crew only told us going nonstop. That´s all.
Here it is using THE WHOLE RUNWAY. Scary.
