That's a good Q. The reason is, though civilization has existed in India for 4000 years, there has never been a unifying force binding the kingdoms which have constantly grown and shrunk.

Though, UK stole our money and colonized us, they gave a medium - a 'lingua franua' - ENGLISH - and a sense of nationalism which united all the kingdoms to form modern day INDIA.

Ever since, we have had great diplomatic ties.
